Haydon Bridge-based Muay Thai boxer Finn Welch continued his climb up the rankings with a fourth win in a row in Liverpool on March 31 against experienced fighter Louie Lyons who is a former World Champion in the 12-14 age category. Lyons came into the 65kg bout under Pro-Am rules with a strong record in 80 junior fights but lost out to Welch in the five-Round contest.
Welch scored a knockdown in Round two with knees to the body and head, before making it clear over the next three Rounds who was in charge and gradually wore down his opponent.
The Haydon Bridge teenager will be looking to complete a five-timer on home soil in June when he fights on the Victory Promotions bill at the Vertu Arena in Newcastle.
