A COACH is celebrating the success of his young players gaining academy contracts.
Dan Kirkup, one of the men behind the Haltwhistle Jubilee Junior Football team, is thrilled to see doors open for his young players as they get accepted at prestigious football academies to continue their future careers in football.
Speaking about the success, Dan said: "Four players have contracts for Carlisle United Academy, and one has a contract for Morecambe.
"The Carlisle ones are Harry Kirkup, Isaac Armstrong, Oliver Lancaster, and George Nicholson. "The one at Morecambe is Leo Grierson.
"The five have been playing for my Haltwhistle teams for two years on Saturday and Sunday.
"They have absolutely dominated grassroots football for two years, barely losing a game.
"The Saturday team has been playing a year up against older kids, as they have been far too good for their own age and have never lost when playing a year up.
