England Golf has named the respective teams for next week’s European Team Championships, including a Ponteland High School student.
England Women, with Jess Baker, Rosie Belsham, Lily Hirst, Nellie Ong, and siblings Mimi and Patience Rhodes, will compete at Real Sociedad Hípica Española Club de Campo, Spain.
They've previously won an impressive 12 times, including in 2022, and finished second seven times, including last year, out of the 40 events to date.
England Men, represented by Jack Bigham, Dominic Clemons, Will Hopkins, Matthew Dodd-Berry, Harley Smith and Tyler Weaver are off to Italy's Royal Park for the European Team Championship.
They've come first 10 times and secured second place 10 times since the contest's start in 1959, their last win being in 2013.
The England Boys’ Team comprises Ben Bolton, Seb Desoisa, Daniel Hayes, Charlie Rusbridge, Kris Kim and Oscar Lent.
They're heading to Diamond Golf & Country Club, Austria for the European Boys' Team Championship.
The championship was established in 1980, and since then, the Boys' team has had eight victories and seven second-place finishes, with the most recent second-place finish in 2022.
Meanwhile, England Girls' participants include Ponteland High School's Charlotte Naughton, alongside Sadie Adams, Isla McDonald-O’Brien, Matilde Santilli, Chloe Tarbard and Amelia Wan.
16-year-old Charlotte has already had some good experiences this year as she came in second place at the Girls' U16 Amateur Championship, St Rule Trophy and Sir Henry Cooper Junior Championship.
She also finished in the top 10 at the 2024 English U18 Amateur Stroke Play Championship. However, this year is not her first successful year as in 2022, she won the English U14 Girls' Championship and has also represented England in three U16 international matches.
They're Sweden-bound to compete at Gothenburg’s Golf Club for the European Girls' Team Championship.
In the competition's 29-year history, the Girls' team has won once in 2005 and secured second place in 2008 and 2011.
The European Team Championships will take place between July 9 and July 13.
