Ahead of their Ebac Northern League Division Two opener at newly promoted Grangetown Boys Club on Saturday, Prudhoe YC Seniors won 5-0 at Essity Park against Northern Alliance Premier Division outfit Percy Main Amateurs who lost most of last season's squad in the summer following the departure of manager Gavin Hattrick to West Allotment Celtic. Mark McMeekin's side has enjoyed a strong pre-season, losing only one of five games so far.
Near neighbours Ryton & Crawcrook Albion are at home to Yarm & Eaglescliffe on Saturday in their Ebac Northern League Division Two opener. Despite losing 2-0 at home to Division One rivals Whickham last Friday night, it proved to be another good test for Nathan Beckham's side who will be without the suspended Aaron Costello for the first three league matches.
Northern Alliance Bay Plastics Premier Division champions Wallington followed up the previous week's 2-2 draw against Prudhoe YC Seniors at Oakford Park by retaining the Mark Bruce Memorial Trophy at Armstrong Park, Rothbury last Saturday. Their goals in a 7-1 victory were scored by Keelan Nellis (3) and older brother Jordan (4). The attacking options for Trevor Baston's side have been strengthened by the signing of Ponteland United striker Mason Stephenson who was their top-scorer last season with 16 goals.
Haltwhistle Jubilee won 5-3 at home to Division One side Heaton Stannington A with their goals coming from Jack Barker, Greg Irwin (3) and Aaron Davidson, while Ponteland United drew 2-2 at Wideopen.
