A mini soccer league has picked up a regional accolade by being named Northumberland FA's league of the year.
Tynedale Mini Soccer League was named league of the year at the awards night where they were praised for providing opportunities for young players in rural clubs to compete close to home.
The citation read: "The league’s commitment to keeping football affordable and accessible is truly remarkable. No affiliation fees means more kids can play the game they love."
A group of parents set up the league in 1995 to give children the chance to play football in a safe environment.
There are currently 31 teams playing across three divisions with more than 400 players taking part. Each match lasts 20 minutes and teams play a season of 10-12 matches.
