Either at home or out, Prudhoe’s library is here for you.

Prudhoe’s library offers many programmes and clubs for book-lovers of all ages.

Prudhoe’s library is a friendly, welcoming and treasured part of Prudhoe, it’s a place where people of all ages go to and use, and there are always friendly faces from the staff who welcome you inside.

Prudhoe is extremely lucky to have a well run, large library on our main street.

However, many people aren’t able to go to the library due to age, time or disabilities.

Fortunately, our beloved library has a home library service, where once registered, an individual can either choose specific books to be delivered to their door, or choose a mystery bundle for a surprise book.

This scheme has been ongoing for over a year, and is one that has been used greatly.

The individual has to register themselves, or be registered by their care home if they are in one.

The library majority has elderly people using this service, but they encourage people of all ages to use and benefit from it.

This scheme not only helps those who are unable to go visit the library in person, but it also helps those who may be lonely, especially during the Christmas season.

When speaking to one of the women working at the library, she told me that for many people, having the books dropped off is very helpful as it may be the only time they talk to another person that day.

This scheme is a beneficial and valuable one, and one that should be used by most at least once.

To register, search mylibrary.co.uk and click on the “Services” tab, then select “Home Library” to find the register page.

The library also has book clubs for those who are interested in reading in groups and debriefing with others about a book’s content.

There is an adult’s and a children's book club available monthly.

The children’s book club is for ages 7-12, and is on the last Saturday of every month at 11.30am.

The adults book club is welcome to adults of all ages, and is on the first Monday of every month at 2pm.

Furthermore, from Friday 29th November, the library offers what is called “Warm Spaces”.

This is where they offer anyone hot drinks and refreshments as well as a comfortable space in the colder months.

This is a great way to socialise and keep warm while remaining comfortable, and be surrounded by your favourite books.

Our library is a true treasure to the community, and we are so grateful to have it.

It is something many others do not have access to, and it is important we remain grateful for it and its many offerings, especially at Christmas time.
